PRIVACY POLICY
Privacy Policy
Effective Date: March 23, 2026
HuntingSeason.com (“HuntingSeason,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, store, and protect information when you visit HuntingSeason.com and use our Services.
By using our Services, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this Privacy Policy.
1. Scope of This Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy applies to information collected through:
- Our website, HuntingSeason.com
- Our browser-based game (“Hunting Homestead”)
- Our deals aggregation service
- Our newsletter subscription service
- Email and other communications you send to us
This Privacy Policy does not apply to third-party websites, apps, services, or platforms that we do not control, even if they are linked from our Services (including state wildlife agency websites and third-party retailer websites linked from our deals page).
2. Information We Collect
A. Information You Provide Directly
The only personal information we collect is what you voluntarily provide:
- Email address — when you subscribe to our newsletter
- Messages or feedback — if you contact us via email
We do not collect your name, phone number, mailing address, payment information, or any other personal data unless you voluntarily provide it in correspondence with us.
B. Information Stored Locally on Your Device
We use your browser's localStorage (not cookies) to store the following on your device:
- Theme preference — whether you have selected dark or light mode
- Game save data — your Hunting Homestead game progress, including scores and leaderboard data
This data is stored entirely on your device and is never transmitted to our servers. You can clear this data at any time through your browser settings.
C. Cookies
Our website uses a single, strictly necessary httpOnly cookie for administrative authentication. This cookie:
- Is only set when an administrator logs into the admin dashboard
- Contains a cryptographically signed session token
- Is not used for tracking, analytics, or advertising
- Is not set for regular visitors browsing the site
We do not use any cookies for tracking, analytics, advertising, or user profiling. Regular visitors to HuntingSeason.com will never receive a cookie.
D. Information Collected by Our Hosting Provider
Our website is hosted on Vercel. Like most web hosting services, Vercel may automatically collect standard server logs, which can include:
- IP address
- Browser type and version
- Pages visited and referring URLs
- Date and time of access
This information is collected by Vercel as part of standard web hosting operations. We do not use this data for tracking, profiling, or advertising. See Vercel's Privacy Policy for details on how they handle server log data.
E. Analytics
We use Vercel Analytics, a privacy-focused analytics service provided by our hosting platform, to understand how visitors use our website. Vercel Analytics collects:
- Page views (which pages are visited)
- Custom events related to game usage (e.g., game started, hunt completed) — these events contain no personal information, only aggregate gameplay actions
Vercel Analytics does not use cookies, does not collect IP addresses, and does not track users across websites. All data is aggregated and anonymous. See Vercel Analytics Privacy Policy for details.
F. What We Do NOT Collect
To be clear about what we do not do:
